In the 18th century geometric forms and minimalist Neoclassical adornments imitating Ancient Roman and Greek architecture influenced the Louis XVI style. Queen Marie-Antoinette, an advocate of the decorative arts, favored intricate marquetry and floral designs that were banded by geometrical trims. The Regiment chest employs a herringbone veneer border with Ribbon Stripe Mahogany “lozenge” shaped detail. The original bail design is a twisted ring motif. The case is crafted of Ribbon Stripe Mahogany veneers and features a stone top. Polished Brass hardware is standard. Pictured in 509 Edenton Satin.
